Is it a governor with not enough “play” in it?

I believe the governor to be working fine, it’s the springs I’m worried about. I’m so worried they will break without that grease

Does it have the old grease in it? Or none at all?

Forgive my being stressed out. It’s my first machine and I’ve always wanted one. I’m desperate to have this in a condition where I can use it without fear of breaking it

I don’t blame your fear of breaking it. It’s my fourth year in this hobby and I’m sending my motor for my VV-VIII out for repairs after my disastrous attempt of taking the motor apart and cleaning it. Thankfully I stopped before I broke more things on it lol. I said some stuff that would make a sailor blush that night. Ooh boy.

I haven’t sent it yet but I’m planning to send it to George Velloma for new governor and mainsprings too!

I know there is also Ron Sitko but he does not have a website so you have to do it old school with him. I may buy a crank for my VIII since it takes a specific crank from him.
