Another desecration...

Walking a favorite "antique mall" today, whose only real unifying theme is that most of it should burn fairly well, I came across this. Then I opened it. Appears to be lovingly refinished since inside the lid you find a glossy finish. He wants $195 for his "bar". I'm not a Victor guy, so I have no idea what the casework is worth, but I thought I would put this out there if someone is interested. Send me a PM if you want more info. It is in the Asheville, NC area and no, it is not mine.

Where I live in Virginia, you can pick up one of those reed organs for $20-50 any day of the week.

You used to be able to do that with Edison Triumphs, too.
They're kind of neat--they sound like the 1800s, in a good way.

Wow! My XVI B wasn’t turned into a bar but it sat empty in the basement for years until a motor and motorboard came along for it. At least the horn and rest of the interior was intact—just a big hole in the top under the lid. Now I do have an empty 2-door Credenza cabinet that was turned into just a storage cabinet before it was turned over to me. Nothing in it.

The empty 2-door Credenza would be a nice home for the parts from the Credenza in the Trader section that has a rough cabinet. For $150 to get the parts unit, plus then what it would take to buy a workable Orthophonic, that is a better deal than most--especially as tough as it would be to move one of those big horns.

Is it an "antique mall" or an "antiques mall"? A longtime poster on an earlier phono forum thought that these malls should be called "antiques malls." I tend to agree. To bad about the L-door.

Perhaps a previous owner converted the L-Door into a hiding place for their booze during prohibition .
