I know that the marks on the back rod are used to time a machine and that it is supposed to take one munute for the carriage to pass between them. But which part of the carriage? Do you timeit when the right side passes both of them or what? I usually use a digital tachomoter, but it is no longer working so I want to go old school.
Thanks!

Yes, start your timing as the right edge of the carriage passes over the left ring and stop when it reaches the right ring.

On a Combination machine this is done in the two minute mode. Correct?

The marks are 1-6/10" inches apart, so the timing for the carriage to go from mark to mark would be 1 minute for 2 minute mode, or 2 minutes for 4 minute mode.Jerry B. wrote:On a Combination machine this is done in the two minute mode. Correct?

Thanks, that makes sense. The marks are 1-6/10" inches apart, so the timing for the carriage to go from mark to mark would be 1 minute for 2 minute mode, or 2 minutes for 4 minute mode.
