I’d be interested in some Led Zeppelin cylinders and possibly a couple Beatles. Some Robert Johnson or Bessie Smith would be fitting as well.

The Fairchild recorded much better sounding cylinders that were remarkable high fidelity, they sounded like a modern record. It is just very hard to keep in adjustment. I never had much luck trying to cut 78rpm lateral records with the same head, they always sounded bassy and muffled, even with the bass decreased and the highs boosted about 12DB. When recording vertical, the curve needed a 4db decrease at 3khz, and an 8db boost at 10,000 cps. I know it don't make sense but it recorded a very clean cylinder, that sounded much better than the lateral recording it was supposed to make. This was an early advertisement cylinder I made with different recordings, The announcement was a direct modulation with RCA 44bx ribbon microphone with no tape. I started and stopped the phonograph to get each selection. I recorded the selections on CDR. The selections. I got mine, Halloween dance,Edison 1888 letter to Blaine, Kansas City Kitty, by Billy Murray and his Melody Men,I am the Edison Phonograph,McMahon Grenadiers by Edward Clarence North American Phonograph Co. I used this recorder for about 10 years. I am going to rewind it, and put it back in service again. Although I am going to turn it sideways, and mount it on an advance ball, and make a new stylus holder to directly cut, improving the fidelity even more.
