Rare 5" Berliner record on eBay

Post by JPow »

I noticed a rare 5" Berliner on eBay. Berliner's Gramophon record is number 52 - Home Sweet Home
You don't see those very often!
It will be interesting to see how much it goes for, but I'm guessing it will go for much more than I'd be will to pay for it.
(Shipping from Connecticut is $40??)

I know the shipping sounds absurd, but the USPS has been relying on "dimensional weight" more than it used to. In other words, if you ship a fairly large box, but it's light, the USPS will charge you based on the amount of space it takes up rather than its weight. Someone here just sent me a 78 in a box that was maybe 10x12x14 and it was $40+ even before insurance.

+ $2827.50 sales price
- $282.75 eBay fees
- $82.3 PayPal fees
= $2422.45 total profit

according to https://www.ebayfeescalculator.com/usa-ebay-calculator/

Doesn't look like the seller has a lot of phonograph stuff.
How did they get a hold of that Berliner?
