2-Door Credenza on SF Bay Area Craigslist -- $150.00

I just spotted this:

I don't think the asking price is too out of line. It might be a nice fixer-upper.

I agree. It looks like a potentially reasonable restoration project for someone who wants a Credenza on the cheap and is able to invest sweat equity to bring it back to its former glory. It looks like the bun feet are even intact. Those are often busted or missing.

Not such a good deal for people who would have to hire somebody else to restore it.

I just hope that whoever buys it doesn't just part it out. :(

I'm glad to see the listing was shared here--this is our Craigslist posting--and my husband and I agree that we'd rather see it restored than parted out. If anyone has questions please let us know!

Some very careful treatment of the scratches could really make this a very presentable piece.

My Credenza had a LOT of scratches on the lid, though none of them very large. I bought an artist's felt tip marker with a very fine tip and carefully touched up each little scratch. If you get the color correct, they nearly disappear. Getting the marker from an artist or hobby supply store is best because they have dozens of shades to choose from to get it just right.

This could be a really nice Credenza!

I have found that merely cleaning with Goop/GoJo (non-pumice of course) makes scratches less obvious.

Also, there are markers that are designed specifically to fill scratches on furniture. There are 2 things to note when using them. First, as with anything else, test in an inconspicuous area before using in a highly visible spot. Second, best results are usually obtained in wiping off the marker immediately after applying it. This will remove excess color from the area surrounding the scratch and make it blend in better. Re-apply and remove again if necessary. Howard Restor-a-finish also fills scratches well when used as directed.
