The Edison Gem key is flat & plain. Does your friend have a Columbia Q? The late model Q Graphophone takes a fancy key.

As far as I know, all variations of the Gem Model A used the same "clock style" key...

I asked him but he said no.
HE said the dog bone is a later one? The one he wants is round. I can't even find a photo of one...
Maybe he is crazy but he is a phonograph lover and collector so I don't know...
