SOLD: Coin Op Wonder Automaton w/Regina single comb - $5,000
To those of you who like upright music boxes, here is a beauty from an estate in Colorado. Regina mechanism has been rebuilt and plays great. No broken teeth. The wood cabinet is solid and the coin op mechanism works. Comes with 17 15 inch discs, including El Capitan March and Star Spangled Banner. Fairly rare piece, they don't come up often. I am sure it would look better in your toy room than in my storage unit. Just PM if you have any questions or want additional pics. Thanks!

What is the "automaton" portion of this machine?

“Automaton” refers to the coin-op mechanism. It was a fairly common designation by music box makers back in the day.
This is known as a “Style 1” Regina and the several that I have had over the years have all been single combs.

Actually, I stand corrected, this is actually a "Style 2", which was the single-comb version of the "Style 1 Regina Musical Automaton".
