Yes, if you have any electric records they tend to be worth more depending on the music on them. Electric records in the popular series of 50 K start at 52089 and go up to 52651. So Edison only made electrically recorded records for about two years, so they are rare because of that, but also because fewer and fewer record buyers were still buying Edison records after 1925. There are also some electric records in the classical and opera series, but very few. All of the Edison 78s are electric.

Hi Fran,

Didn't initially put too much out there--to avoid spilling "too much information"--but am glad you asked as you and I have been colleagues on here for years with major shared phonograph interests. I am now Mindy Pugh. Quite a journey, capped off last September with an appearance before a judge to swear an oath and get the name changed. Got the transition done just before the pandemic hit.

I'm out everywhere but realized I hadn't put my old name to rest here. Came to the point of realizing "Well, you should be honest on TMF as well as anywhere else. If it works out there, cool; if not, then cross that bridge when it comes." Been using a Maria Callas avatar here since 2014, I believe, which is when I really started moving myself forward. Paying for surgeries soon replaced buying Diamond Discs and Amberols, I'll tell yah.

Have a very supportive spouse and two adult children, so I am lucky. Am still working (FT library job; part-time adjunct professor; church organist). Have been graciously accepted all around; no bad incidents.

But seriously- congrats! Life really IS what you make it, isn't it.

Oh, for sure (re. life is what you make it). Time flies. Waiting until I was in my 60s: way to get in on the glory years.

I met Mindy before her transition when we became friends over our mutual interest in antique phonographs. Her collection of Edison records is amazing. She sold me a several foxtrot gems including a few Golden Gate Orchestra records that I play often. I will never forget when Mindy came to my home and managed to play a cylinder recording on her Edison and the same recording played on my diamond disk machine at the same time. Getting the speed just right was tricky, but she did it. Two channel mono!

I'm very proud to say that my wife and I remain friends with Mindy and her family. The difficulty and pain that Mindy suffered living as a male for so many years is beyond my comprehension. Congratulations Mindy, you are a survivor.
