Hi, I have a very straight Victor horn that was once nickel plated. The plating is so far gone that I would like to strip it down and polish the brass. I have tried muriatic acid
and it did not seem to work. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE NICKEL PLATING?

Send it out to a plating shop. They have the equipment and chemicals to strip it down to the base metal. Cheers, Russie

I have used a powdered nickel stripper on some parts several years ago. It worked well and is not hazardous, like acid or cyanide based strippers.
It was obtained from this website: https://www.finishing.com/chemicals/metalx/

It looks like the plating may polish up with some flaws remaining. I have had good luck using Simichrome polish with fine Scotchbrite, (almost like wet sanding). It is of course up to you, but I would try that before removing the Nickel.
