Here are some before and after pictures of my searchlight horn. When I got it, it was completely rusted with a few traces of the original paint left. I can't recall ever having seen a phonograph horn painted white and gold but I decided to try it out... what do you think?
Cheers,
David

You wouldn't happen to be a Georgia Tech student by any chance, would you?dzavracky wrote:...I can't recall ever having seen a phonograph horn painted white and gold but I decided to try it out... what do you think?

Probably the fact that the original finishes were so cheap that it seems none have survived with any kind of appealing look to them. Even the few originals that are in reasonable condition seem to have had ugly finishes when new. Added to that, many repaint attempts are simply not well done. Yours, (and the other 2 pictured here), are the exceptions!dzavracky wrote:JerryVan wrote:I have NEVER been a fan of Searchlight horns... but I like this one! Very nice work!

Yes it’s sad that none of them really survived with original finish. I have seen some poorly repainted horns and boy are they ugly
