which early model Victrola 2 spring motors were interchangeable with the Victor 3.

The Victrola most likely to have a Victor III motor were early table models X and XI. But not all of those models had the Victor III motor. You run into little difficulties with a too short a spindle because the motor mounts to a metal plate instead of passing through the thickness of a top board. There were also variations where the motor was turned 180 degrees and the winding shaft was on the other side of the motor. A clue was the position of the crank hole. It was closer to the front of the cabinet. Hope this helps.
