Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for what I saw some one else call the winding shaft gear and spring barrel gear. for a Meisselbach Model 12a motor. I've attached some pictures so you can confirm. Anyone know where I can get one?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: WANTED: Meisselbach Motor 12A Wind Shaft Gear
I have one from a Meisselbach parts motor, but unfortunately it's a different model and the shaft and gear are 6" from end to end... Parts for these are difficult to find.
What is your motor out of? I had a hard time finding a complete motor and it turned out to be a different model from the original, but the motor fit the original mounting holes. Do you have pics of your complete motor? They seem to have some interchangeable parts between models.
If yours is out of a generic type phonograph, you might have to find some type of replacement motor.

Your motor has some similar parts on it as the one I have, but yours is a much smaller motor. The gear on the end of your shaft looks like mine, but I don't know if it's the same exact size. Is your gear bad, or the shaft? I'm not sure how the gear is installed, it may be pressed onto the shaft.

Re: WANTED: Meisselbach Motor 12A Wind Shaft Gear
You have another problem. The photo of the winding gear on the spring barrel shows the gear teeth are badly worn. The tops of the teeth should be perpendiculr to the gear but yours are worn down to a steep angle, evidence of severe damage/wear. Even with a new winding shaft you will still have winding problems. The good news is that gear will be much easier to find than the short winding shaft.

Cliff,
Thanks I didn't realize that. I edited the post to reflect that I will need the winding gear on the spring barrel as well.
Curt A,
The gear on the shaft is 11/16 diameter but I can't tell how it should come off. Is there a way to determine that?

Re: WANTED: Meisselbach Motor 12A Wind Gears for Shaft&Barre
Seems to have an original brake system... From the photos it seems that there's a blade with a pin that may engage in the hole in the tt spindle to stop it. Seems to be attached to the same lever as the regulator pad... So moving the lever it would stop the regulator and at the same time engage the spindle to a stop. At the other end seems to have a knurled screw to adjust the pressure on the stopping blade... It's this right? What a curious system....

I had the same thing happen to mine. Seems to be a common problem. I found a motor on Ebay for $35 shipped so just keep looking they turn up.
