Looking for repairs

The Links section of the board has a listing of repair and part suppliers.

You'll find that most of the time, you will need to partially disassemble your machine and send things to repair shops by mail. This is not usually difficult.

Please post a picture of your machine and the actual brand - Victor, Columbia, Brunswick, Pathé, etc.... people tend to use the word "Victrola" as a generic term for any type of phonograph.

It would also help to describe (to the best of your ability) what might be wrong with your machine... For example: it doesn't wind up and run, it cranks but the crank flies backwards, it runs but not reliably and steady, it needs missing parts, etc.

Where are you located? I’m in Plainfield. I either do my own repairs on some things or send some parts out for repair when necessary.

I went--- to find an upright Victrola X (around 1920). What I saw---no motor board hold down screws, no motor board lift knob, governor shaft laying on turntable---no springs or weights, no needle cup, no speed control screw, generic reproducer, generic female crank (they removed the crank escutsion (can't spell that) so the crank would fit) and made it work in place of a male crank. I think she paid $125 or $150 and I don't want "The Damsel in Distress" to put very much more cash into it---What would you suggest? Be kind

I would suggest placing a "wanted" ad in the Yankee Trader for her wants. You or the owner could also contact George V and see if he would be willing to help.
