SOLD: Kruesi Tinfoil Replica by Elmer Jones - $1,800

Post by Phonomark »

Fellow Forum Members:

Today, I am offering for sale a genuine 1878 Kruesi Tinfoil Phonograph replica. Here's some highlights:
  • This replica was made by Elmer Jones back in the late 70s or early 80s.
Elmer Jones had his name cast into the bedplate on the underneath side.
It is an excellent replica with precision detail of all the phonograph's components.
Both the recording stylus and playback stylus are present as are the mica diaphragms.
I have not attempted to record on it, but there seams to be no reason why it wouldn't perform as designed and engineered.
This replica was well cared for and exhibits just a little patina on the brass components. Otherwise, there's no blemishes.
All of the past tinfoil reproductions were done in very limited orders. Here's your chance to add this historically significant phonograph to your collection without spending a fortune.

Asking $1,800 plus the cost of packaging and shipping via Fed Ex.

Machine will be carefully wrapped and double boxed. Because of the cast bedplate, it weighs about 12lbs. Cost of shipping across the country from 94954 will run around $50.

Personal check preferred payment on this one.

That is a very nice replica... it looks like a high quality build.

I have often wondered what all the extra holes are on these. Every one I have seen has all these extra holes. Did the original ones have them also?

Ken-

The simple answer is yes. The original Kruesi was (presumably) made from a combination of Edison storeroom parts (ie: the cast bedplate) and fabricated brass parts machined in the shop. Therefore, all of the replicas have the same holes in the bedplate as the original Kruesi.

Rene can describe this better than I.
