My new to me, $200 Oak L-Door
I fount this on the Facebook Marketplace. I did’t need a third L-Door, but the Wurlitzer dealer tag and nice Oak were too hard to resist. This one is a “DM”, so I guess that the “M” doesn’t stand for Mahogany. The seller told me that they offered it to their 35 year old son, but he told them that he would just take it to the dump. Maybe the generation after the millennials will appreciate old technology.

Beautiful! I live my l-door, but I’d trade it in a heartbeat for such a nice oak example. Nice find. Congratulations.

Beautiful! Nice find! Also, glad you saved it from the "dump". I have been hearing similar comments a little more from sellers lately. Kind of concerning....

Re: My new to me, $200 Oak L-Door
On our first vacation as young newlyweds DeeDee and I visited Victoria, BC. While there we visited many antique shops looking for phonos. I also asked about local collectors and Don Mayor's name was mentioned numerous times. I looked in the phone book and found his number. I called and he insisted we come for coffee and desert and we've been friends ever since. The year was 1977. I admired a "L"door Victrola that was part of his collection. He said he had looked at a similar Victrola just the week prior at a garage sale. So the next day he drove us across Victoria to check it out. It was a beautiful oak L door just like the one in this thread. Don fixed me up with a tarp, padding, rope and it came home on top of our little Honda Civic. It continues to be enjoyed in my collection.

I needed some music in the shop, but this is only a temporary home. Now I need an “A” to complete the set.JerryVan wrote:An L-Door and an optical comparator too!

Awesome I found my L door on Facebook market too! Only paid $300! I love the dealer tag on yours.

Nice find! Last year I found my 3rd L-door, a VTLA, on Facebook Marketplace as well, for $150. It needed some cleaning up but looks good now and had most of the record boxes, just missing two. Sometimes I get lucky.
