Brunswick introducing the Ultona tone arm.

Post by edisonplayer »

I was wondering if when Brunswick owners introduced the Ultona tone arm if Brunswick owners could exchange their old tone arms for the new Ultona when the company introduced it?edisonplayer.

I've never seen any advertising that suggests they recommended or encouraged such an upgrade, but then there's a lot I haven't seen.
I'm not sure that anyone would really want to anyway when the older models were capable of playing both lateral and vertical cut records, or even if it was possible due to the size and position of the horn throat on the motor board.

I've never seen an older Brunswick that was upgraded to have an Ultona.

However, I have a Brunswick 105 table top machine that is equipped with a double-head Ultona, whereas the literature says it should have the single head version. I assume this was done by a collector later, but I have no way of being sure.
