Help needed! Small washer left over - HMV 102 motor service

After seeing the last photo posted of the washer, I totally agree with Soundgen. I have never seen a washer like that inside a 271-D motor....It looks very strange, as it was built of several layers?

I should clarify, the last picture does appear to make it look like it is made of layers but it is in fact just a standard washer. Those ‘layers’ are in fact just wear where something has clearly ‘spun’ and worn on top of the washer. The only possible place where I could see it fitting would be through the end of the winding shank or in the gears nexts to the winding shank. But I see no purpose it would serve in either of those places? Total mystery and has rather frustrated me!

there is no washer like that on a 271-D motor it is superfluous probably dropped in when the motor was opened at some previous time in its life , I've taken dozens of these apart and this washer ain't there , did two today and this washer wasn't there . throw it away and stop fretting , throw it over your left shoulder like spilt salt to keep the devil away

...or clean and polish it, place it in a tiny fitted plastic baggie, and affix that in an orderly and formal fashion somewhere inside the machine - to be discovered by, and to similarly perplex, some future owner.
