RCA Victor metal box--can someone identify?

I know bupkis about most advertising items. This item seems interesting. Not the record, nor the dish, but the metal box. The lid is up. It looks like it might have held ten-inch records, no? Was there a paper insert on the underside of the lid? One can see two tracks into which something was once slid. Any help would be appreciated.
