Legit or frankenphone
Is this a frankenphone or is this legit whatever it is somebody went to a lot of trouble making it.

It looks very much like the Emerson $3 phonograph, a cheaply made but totally legitimate machine.

My vote is for original, or made from old parts (Other than that 10" cylinder horn?) The motor has a plunger brake & side-mounted speed control. It resembles a Victor Jr. The winding key may be someone's replacement for a crank--ignore it if it's not original.

The horn and reproducer seem to suggest a much earlier vintage than that of the motor. The horn & reproducer looking turn-of-the-century, while the motor looking very 1920's. However, in a toy, maybe the latest trends and styles weren't of much concern?
