Mystery Reproducer

Mystery to me that is. Just saw this on Ebay for $15 and had to take a chance. I haven't seen one before, but I'm a newbee. They said

"Here is, what appears to be, an orthophonic sound reproducer dated to 1920 or later. The item is in original condition and will likely need a rebuild, although it does work in its current condition. We have tried to show the damage around the throat area and close-ups so as to give you a better indication of the condition. Honestly, we don't know enough about this specific reproducer to know what we don't know...so we have kept the pricing low."












It looked to me like the damage they mentioned was on the Rubber Mounting Gasket and the diaphragm looks dented slightly. I think it's rebuildable. If so it should work on my VV-215; correct?
Can anyone tell me what reproducer it is?
Where to find info on it?
Any rebuild info/tips?
Is it junk?

I did order parts to rebuild my No2.

It looks to me like a generic reproducer from a portable phonograph, probably 1940's or later. Nothing Orthophonic about it. If the diaphragm is OK just replace the gasket tubing and oil the pivots. It will need some sheet rubber wrapped around the end of the tone arm to replace the rubber sleeve.

Maybe I'm wrong but looks like maybe the end of the tonearm this was on broke off and is still stuck inside the rubber bushing? If so I guess you can try picking that metal out of there if you are going to try keeping the original bushing. But perhaps one of the replacement bushings now available might fit it, like one for a Victor #2, or for an orthophonic.
