The man that I bought it from had just bought it at a Flea Market. He was told that it was some kind of Edison phonograph cabinet. I believe that the needle cup on the door showed it as something to do with phonographs, but neither of them had any idea what it was. I would guess that many phonograph collectors would not have recognized it for what it is, simply because there are few, if any, others out there in collections. I recognized it because of the research that I have done on Concealed Horn Cabinets. I would really like to hear of another just so I can get some measurements on the record rack.

Since I received no replies from any Forum members concerning the existence of another Salter cabinet like this, I reproduced the record rack the best I could using the line drawing of the cabinet in the catalog that Shawn reproduces. His catalog was a blessing, I would have had no idea what this looked like without it. It stated that it was a sliding record rack, which would make it much easier to retrieve records. I still have to install the 2 brass pulls as shown in the catalog. It is made of Oak, as is the rest of the cabinet, and I am very happy with the results.
