Many thanks Carlos. If anyone would like a free original HMV 511 horn I can supply ! I think I could also find the tonearm and possibly even a soundbox---all in gilt/gold plate. The actual soundbox which came with this ruined case was an HMV 5B which I have used elsewhere.

I wondered what happened to that HV-511. I could really use a tung-tone needle tin holder for an HMV I picked up over here in the us. The two needle pots are very damaged but there. I would be interesting in buying those too.

Some might like to see the squatty 511 now standing full height once more, new mahogany legs carved and grafted onto the stumps. the motor is presently out awaiting repair/rebuilding, I think the only thing to find now is a soundbox!

Alex,

Would you be willing to share more about the repair process? Did you use a pattern machine to carve the legs? What kind of mahogany turned out to be best, etc.? I'd love to hear more! This turned out really nice.

I think the more pertinent question would be "who was the idiot who cut the legs off in the first place"! But seriously this is a fantastic turnaround for this machine and I am very impressed. I have to ask though, is there anything you can't do superbly well? :D
I am interested in all forms of audio media including: gramophones, phonographs, wire recorders, the tefifon, reel to reel tapes, radiograms and radios.
