Stanton Sale - A few observations

Does anyone remember what the Grand roller organ cobs went for. I forgot all about the auction and by the time I remembered it was too late to register.

I did not attend out of health safety considerations. But I left a lot of absentee bids and took my chances. I spent three days watching on line, and honestly think it was more stressful than attending. I ended up adding items via a proxy at the auction and also using the Live Auctioneers platform.
Steve Stanton is a real pro and the pace of the auction was astounding, given the complications. He told me later that it went at 100 lots per hour, or almost two per minute. Wow!
I won’t know until my stuff arrives next week if there are any turkeys, but I’m sure there will be few, if any, unpleasant surprises.

In your conversation with Steve, did he mention whether or not the on-line format may be here to stay, even after Covid? Obviously, you may not be at liberty to say, which would be understandable.

My wife and I attended the auction, all went very smoothly with the new format, being they were online they had a large screen monitor with the item being sold displayed on screen, therefore the ringman didn't have to haul each item to the stage area, which actually made the selling go quicker in my opinion.
Prices were strong for the most part, I came after 5 machines, won two and was back up bidder on the other three, but bought 16 other machines to resale, IKES! It was a great auction and we had a great time, Steve and Mike did an excellent job as usual.

I don’t think any decision has been made regarding continuation of the on-line format. Personally I hope he doesn’t do it, but times they are a-changing, for sure.
