However already in 1915 the bowl in lid models were being used, as this one from the science museum indicates. Complete with bullet hole. A fantastic artefact!

Does anyone know the difference between a PAO and PAAO? I'm not sure which one I have.

The Trench Celeste (pictured in the previous page) was a portable originally made for and retailed by Millers Music of Cambridge in 1914. I believe it pre-dated the first Decca by a few months. I have one identical to the one shown with the only difference being that the horn is painted black on my example.

Steve, it was interesting to hear that the Celeste was marketed by Millers - I assume this is company as per the photo from one of my other machines ? Incidentally, my Celeste also has a black inside to the horn and doesn't have a Millers label on it...Andrew
