Here we go again- this time with some nice and rarer Depression- era Columbias:
NOTE: ALL ARE SOLD - thanks for looking!
1. Ted Lewis and his Band, 2378-D, "Headin' For Better Times" / "Just A Gigolo". Absolutely fantastic A with great Muggsy throughout. I'm not a huge fan of Ted's "incidental singing" or gaspipe clarinet, but they work really well here with a good quartet backing him up. Fun stuff. I've been too chicken to ever listen to the other side. Ted as a gigolo frightens me. Visual E that plas E+, at least on the (likely) better side $35.00
2. Rudy Vallee Conn. Yankees, 2702-D, "Same Old Moon" (waltz)/ "Strange Interlude". Early 1932 black pressings- this is the first run of this disc as later ones were blue. Fantastic Depression dance sides, in visual E that plays E+ or better. Label damage both sides, worst side shown. $40.00
3. Rudy, 2715-D, "Let's Put Out The Lights And Go To Bed" / "Me Minus You". Visual E- / V+++ with needle run on label one side only. Both sides play at E+ or better. There's about a 2" lam crack from the edge on B that doesn't sound. $40.00
4. 2384-D, Royal Blue Shellac, Joe Venuti Blue 6, "Doin' The Uptown Lowdown" / Ben Selvin Orch. "You're My Past, Present, and Future". A bit of heavy wear in spots on the Selvin side make me rate this side as V- to G+, but thankfully the Venuti side is E with a bunch of lam cracks around the label into the grooves that do not sound. Benny Goodman is all over this one which makes for a treat! $30.00
5.Russ Morgan Orch, 3067-D, Royal Blue. "Sliphorn Sam" / "Phantom Fantasy". John Henry Choir vocal B. Visual V+, plays E, same sticker on both labels. This isn't the "Music In The Morgan Manner" stuff by a long shot! $25.00
6. Eddie Cantor, 2723-D, Royal Blue w/ pic label, "Look What You've Done" / "What A Perfect Combination" . Overall this is an E- disc with an edge flake (no grooves) A BUT a long lam crack both sides stabilized with super glue in the lead in area. It doesn't sound A and ticks barely perceptibly in a few spots B $20.00
7. Jacques Renard Orch., 3086-D, Royal Blue, "I'd Rather Listen To Your Eyes" (Smith Ballew) / "I'd Love To Take Orders From You" (Chick Bullock). Visual V+, plays E- or better, very enjoyable dance sides $20.00
8. George Olsen and his Music, 2790-D, Royal Blue, "Lou'siana Lullaby" (Ethel Shutta) / "Let's Make Up" (Joe Morrison). Beautiful visual E+ that plays as new. Great sides, too. $35.00
9. Ben Pollack Orch., 2879-D, Royal Blue, "Deep Jungle" / "Swing Out". Visual E--, label fade A. HOT band that swings, and very uncommon. $45.00
