Red Searchlight Horn

Post by mattrx »

Today I picked up this Searchlight horn, thanks to a fellow forum member who pointed me in that directtion. I had a Standard that had no horn and thought this would dress up the machine. The paint on the machine looks old and there are a few chips here and there. I have not yet attempted to clean it. I read in a previous thread to use gojo (non-pumice) and go slow. Then wax. Hopefully this will be the right approach.

To those of you that have experience with these horns, does the pain look original to you? To me it looks quite old with a few chips here an there. It came from what was left of an estate sale and so I could not ask any questions of the previous owner. Ever fourth rib has an old gold high lite as does the rim.

Unrelated: There were quite a few magic lanterns and slides and related items there and I can provide the phone # and a few pictures to anyone that would be interested in that.

Thanks for any advice.

Matt

Looks like a very nice example. For some reason, these don't seem to age well, but this one did!

Thank you for your responses. Any thoughts on the paint/color originality? Here are more pictures of the paint.
