I've seen a red star stamped on an Edison Diamond Disc label, but never a blue star ? https://www.etsy.com/.../edison-blue-star-stamped-label...

Re: Edison Diamond Disc label, blue star?
The red star indicated what TAE thought to be a poor seller (I like them since they seem to be better than average). So, I'm only guessing that the blue star means the same thing, but on foreign titles... Maybe someone else can say definitely...

The red stars are pretty common, and I've seen a few with purple, but I don't recall seeing blue.

Re: Edison Diamond Disc label, blue star?
I'm pleased to see this blue star (which I've never seen before) because it shows other star colours were used.
Years ago on the old Edison forum I posted a picture of a purple star, and a collector there insisted that it was merely a red star that faded, which I was convinced was not the case.
Gatyam mentioning the purple star seems to confirm that I was correct.
I'm not so sure I agree with the assumption that these different coloured stars all indicate poor sellers like the red stars though.
My purple star record is a regular American popular series number, so i don't see why the would go to the trouble of changing the ink colour if they all indicate the same thing.
I've always thought it would be interesting to make a list of record numbers with a purple, and now a blue star, to see if the same colour star was used on every issue of a particular catalogue number, if the colour changed, or if the star disappeared off the label of later pressing that were found to sell better than Edison expected.
I've also wondered about the early paper label record sleeves, which sometimes are printed with a star, triangle or square either side of the circular cut out, and whether they indicated something specific or not.

Well, to add to the mystery, I have three copies of 82227 and none of them have a star of any color. So, I'm starting to think that Curt's speculation about the foreign market is correct.

Here in the UK, I too have a copy of 82227 but there is no star on it.
I have no idea how the record arrived in the UK, whether it was an "official" Edison export from the US to the UK or whether an individual brought it in with their luggage.
The mystery deepens!
