Wanted: Internal Components for Brass Reproducer

Post by need4art »

Hi All,
I know that this might be a long shot-I have the outer shell, back plate and ring for a brass reproducer and need all the other components. The story about the why could make for interesting reading, but that's for another day.

So if you have an under performing, beat up, tired, or in-complete reproducer lets talk. Please reply here or [email protected] and by the way a pot metal reproducers parts will not work, if you knew that you were one step a head of me in the process of learning about the differences between pot metal and brass units.

I had all of a Credenza's part's re-plated, and while very close a standard pot metal unit is not the same color-and you cannot re-plate pot metal-but the shell was done.

Thx
Abe

So, you're basically looking for the diaphragm, needle bar & bearings, correct? I know that the diaphragm from a pot metal reproducer will fit in a brass one. Are you saying that the needle bars will not interchange? I do recall something about the needle bar cross pins being a bit different. Is that it?

To be honest I have not played around with orthophonic reproducers much. But in talking with Wyatt (micamonster) he has told me that the internals are different from brass to pot metal-though he did not specially say which parts will not interchange.

Any help or parts information (or the parts themselves) would be great.

Thx for the help
Abe

The one thing you may need that you cannot get from any potmetal reproducer is the steel block that goes on the front and holds the crosspin and bearings for the needlebar. The piece I am referring to is attached by 2 screws from the inside of the reproducer. If you have that piece, I probably have the other parts you will need to complete it. Feel free to PM me about this.
