I think I am correct in saying that some orchorsol soundboxes had springs at the back and others did not.
Does anyone know why I wonder ?
I assume that either they were available at the same time and one was a more expensive version or there was a design change and one superceded the other ?
Thanks for any information on this one.

Re: Orchorsol Soundboxes
Thanks very much for the link epigramophone.
It illustrates perfectly why I am wondering about this.
Your soundbox looks very different to mine (photographs below) - yours does not have any springs but mine doesn't have your large screws for example. Also, the 'life belts' seem very different.
A puzzle indeed !

Re: Orchorsol Soundboxes
My soundbox has the "Patent Adjustable Tuning Control" i.e. screws to enable the owner to "tune" it.
Your soundbox is the later version with the screws replaced by springs, and claimed to be self adjusting.
Here are the instructions for my soundbox :

Re: Orchorsol Soundboxes
I don't know of any information on the timeline or variants of the Orchorsol soundbox and lifebelt designs - I'd love to know more, having several of the soundboxes myself, but sadly I suspect it's all lost in the mists of time, just like the technical development of the EMG and Expert soundboxes!

So very well stated if I may say.Orchorsol wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 1:42 pm I don't know of any information on the timeline or variants of the Orchorsol soundbox and lifebelt designs - I'd love to know more, having several of the soundboxes myself, but sadly I suspect it's all lost in the mists of time, just like the technical development of the EMG and Expert soundboxes!
Genuinely, so absolutely sad that so much information has been lost.
