Talk-O-Phone serial numbers--question

I have a Talk-O-Phone reproducer with the serial number 26231. Did the Talk-O-Phone company match serial numbers on its machines and reproducers such that both have the same serial number? Certainly Victor didn't. But if Talk-O-Phone did, it would be interesting to know if there's a machine "out there" with my serial number, that is, if Talk-O-phone even bothered to number its machines.

The soundbox on my (unbranded) Talk-O-Phone is 55010. I don't know whether Talk-O-Phones ever had serial numbers at all, or where they would have put them.
