I’d love to know why other people are protecting the thief. This guy stole my stuff. I did absolutely nothing to this guy except trust him. So why am I the bad one here? Please let me know.
You might want to think twice before impugning “other people”… what do you expect us to do? We can commiserate, we can point out inconsistencies but in the final accounting there’s very little we can do. Do you need spring barrels? Post a wanted post in the “Yankee Trader” forum with your request, and whether or not “other people” are “protecting the thief”, I’ll bet you’ll find several folks who can help you fix the motor.

I think we’ve all learned that online arguments are often not as they are first presented, and publicly airing your dirty linen isn’t going to get your motor fixed. We all understand ranting online when frustrated but it’s a pointless exercise…

My intention was twofold: to find out if anyone on this forum knows this guy personally (and possibly intervene on my behalf since he’s avoiding me) and to subsequently warn others who may be dealing with him or deal with him in the future. I’m sure you’d want to know who’s screwing who out there in the hobby?
Yes, if he doesn’t return my parts ( I wrote him a letter last week and asked him to return my parts) I will definitely be posting a want ad.

By the way, I already heard from people who have been having the exact same experience with him: excuses, excuses, more excuses

Now that we have been exposed to this story, if there "is more" that has not been revealed (as implied by other posters), why not state what it is so we have both "sides" of the "story" and can come to our own conclusions?

Accusing someone of "holding back" pertinent details, (if any are actually known) is totally unfair to both parties. Not all of us are on FB and cannot see if there are any extenuating circumstances, or if anything even exists at all.

Now, we are left with the unfortunate situation of not knowing what is supposed to be true, or if anything is true.

Did the guy who was supposed to fix the motor "steal" some parts, deal unfairly, block the OP for absolutely no reason? Was there some misunderstanding that led to this thread being posted? Has the OP done something to the other person to piss him off and withhold the parts? Is there a payment dispute? Is the OP lying about all of this? :? :? :? Or is the guy with the motor parts an untrustworthy crook? :? :? :?

If there are other pertinent "facts" to be known, whoever shed doubt on the OP's story, has a responsibility to make them known or publicly withdraw those remarks and apologize to the OP...

I can assure you I am definitely not lying. Everything seemed fine until I kept getting excuses for months. I even waited weeks between asking again “how much longer” and I kept getting lame excuses. Then the following week I went to ask again and found myself unable to contact him anymore. Me now without any parts because he has them.
There is no pay dispute. I paid him for everything I asked him to send me. Not to mention two priority mail costs to me to send two sets of springs back to him for repairs.
I just want my damn parts back—-fixed or not! I could post the conversation we had on messenger and you can plainly see there was no animosity. We even chatted about it being his birthday and how many kids we have. It baffles me what people are capable of.
Yes, at this point I consider him a crook.

Ok, so now this is the last comment I’m making about this. I found out through a nameless reliable source what this thief said about the transaction and I want to set the record straight:

I AM THE VICTIM. He is totally fabricating what actually happened. Everything he told this source is a LIE.
First off he claims I sent him my original motor to fix..A LIE.
He sold me a complete Heinemann motor that he claimed had new springs and worked perfectly.
I NEVER sent him my motor to repair!

Next he claims he charged me $75...I believe it was $95 but I could be wrong.

Next he claims I snapped the motor a week or two later...another LIE!
I tested the motor in my machine and it wouldn’t even play 1 side of a record and it thumped badly.
He said “easy fix, just send me back the springs”. I sent him back the springs at my cost.

He then said he couldn’t fix the springs because something was broken and he didn’t have spare parts. I told him I had the springs from my original motor. Could he use those to make one good spring for me?
Instead he just sends me a victrola motor that doesn’t fit my machine. I never asked for this motor and he never asked if I wanted it. He just sent it.
He kept insisting I could “make it fit”. I refused to install it because nothing lined up right and I would have had to drill a second crank hole and find another crank, etc. Just fix my springs please.
I asked again about sending my old springs. He then claimed ignorance, that I never asked him. I sent him a damn video showing him them! He said why didn’t you say that? I shook my head in disbelief. He said yes, send me the springs.
I sent the second set of springs. The victrola motor was never mentioned again. He never asked for it back. Never asked me to pay for it.

Now he claims he asked for the victrola motor back along with the springs. This conversation never happened. More LIES!
Now he tells people I said I’m keeping the victrola motor as collateral (or as extortion as he makes it sound). MORE LIES! The victrola motor was never talked about again after I said it won’t fit.

So now the story is he said for me to keep the victrola motor and he’s going to throw out my springs. LIES! This conversation never took place!
Methinks mr Pierani must partake too much of the wacky weed or something because he’s nothing but LIES and a THIEF! And I won’t stand by and let him say these things about me that aren’t true! I HAVE ALL OF OUR MESSENGER CONVERSATIONS SAVED AND I CAN PROVE EVERYTHING I’VE SAID!
CAN MR PIERANI SAY THE SAME? NO!
LIAR!

Your story sounds believable and you detailed the issues/allegations - I, personally, believe you. That being said, I have had a similar incident a number of years ago with an unnamed, well known collector, who made a number of false allegations. It's absolutely infuriating... I have had to totally write him off and forget about him. There are many honest and reliable people in this hobby and it's unfortunate that there are a few unscrupulous ones, just like in any other hobby. Forget about it and move on... Your best choice will be to find another complete motor possibly from someone on the Forum.

As George asked - what can we do, except empathize?

Pretty sure he just wants to know whether any of us know the guy, and if friendly, see what we might do to jar things loose.

But there is always a point where you realize you’re just throwing good money after bad, and you move along to something else.
