I bought a bunch of records today, about half of which were in various albums, one of which was a "fat" 17 page/sleeve Victor album. I've never seen that before. I suspect they only came with a small number of machines. Can anyone tell me a bit more? And does anyone need it? (Letter "C")
Thanks in advance.

I have a bunch of these and can always use more. PM me details but if it's correct for someone's machine in need I will step aside.52089 wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 8:00 pm I bought a bunch of records today, about half of which were in various albums, one of which was a "fat" 17 page/sleeve Victor album. Re: Victor 17 page albums?
I bought a 1912 Victrola XVI (the first model after the L-door). It came with fat maroon albums with green pages and gold pull rings. Most of the albums fell apart, but I still have one 10" album that is intact. It only has 16 pages, however. I don't need any more, but thanks for offering.
Best regards ... AZ*

I'd love to have one hundred and a half of these albums in good shape, too store my collection! (I'd also need 40 in 12" size). It would cost a fortune!

Actually, I would not use these for storage if I had any. Almost all of them that I have seen, including some I owned years ago had deteriorated beyond the point at which they could be used for storing records. Even those that were intact were in too delicate of a condition to be used.

Re: Victor 17 page albums?
It's my understanding that these were supplied with the late L-Door and early post-L-Door XVI's. I'm actually looking for some to complete an oak L-Door I have. I already have A, B & C. I need D, E, F & G in 12 inch to complete. I recently sourced the C or I'd send you a PM.
A few year's ago, I had a XVI that had a full set of these type of albums with the records the owner had purchased. I donated it to a local museum when I ran out of room. The machine had come from a local farmhouse where it had been for the last 100 years. It is still on display at the Bartlett Historical Society museum.

Not to hijack this post, but so coincidental that you bring this up because I found this chubby 16-page book just yesterday whilst going through albums in my attic and thought "dang, that's a fat book". Never occurred to me that it might actually belong to a particular machine. Seems strange that Victor would make a 17 page book and a 16 page book. I went and looked just to make page 17 was just missing but no, it's made that way.

Re: Victor 17 page albums?
I have two or three of these 12" 17-page jobs in service as storage on my shelves. To be honest, when filled with records they are cumbersome and unwieldy. When I was working through a big bunch of duplicate records, while "dread" is too strong a word, I came to dislike pulling those things whenever a record that I needed to compare turned out to be in one.

Re: Victor 17 page albums?
If it is a 10 inch album, I could use it to complete a set for my L-door. I need the 12 inch D, E, F, & G as well, but have yet to locate them. I have the A, B, C, H, and I albums (all 10 inch) but need one 10 inch J and the 12 inch D, E, F & G. Just in case anyone finds/has them.Dischoard wrote: Sun May 23, 2021 10:42 pm Not to hijack this post, but so coincidental that you bring this up because I found this chubby 16-page book just yesterday whilst going through albums in my attic and thought "dang, that's a fat book".
