Realistically, nothing. With the standard B-series motor, the only difference between single and double spring motors, other than obviously the springs and barrels, is that the double spring uses a shorter mounting bracket than the single. All the bedplates are drilled to use either one, so converting from a single spring to a double spring is about a 2 minute job once you have the motor out and it has run down.
The only difference then is that it takes longer to fully wind up the double spring motor.

There is really nothing to consider. When the record begins to slow down, just wind it enough to get through the next few sides, (you'll get a feel for just how much cranking that is). There is no reason to wind it up fully, so whether or not it has 1 or 2 springs is not important.chewy wrote: Wed Jun 02, 2021 3:26 pm What do i need to know about single vs double motors in edisons as far as operation practices, general tips, etc? many thanks again!!!

thank you- ive been doing 27 cranks and letting it wind down to roughly 30 rpm at the end of a disk, just like on the schubert (leaving about 3 or so on there as to not fully wind down spring as i have been instrctted). I think, its enough cranks i possibly need to add a few for the B200, it might not be equally the same but close. Many thanks for the pointers
