Edison gear cluster wear

Post by bartongreg8238 »

I have an Edison standard model D that has some wear on the gear cluster. The hole in the side plate is slight oval instead of round. (Most prominently on the first gear shaft turned by the spring bull gear). I’m wondering if it is possible to drill out the hole and put in a bushing that fits the gear shaft?

Thanks!

Yes, they can be bushed... not sure where to obtain the correct bushing.

The bushing needs to be perfectly centered in the plate or it will be ineffective. An easier option is to get a new side plate. George Vollema will be able to help you.
