Berliner Record Box
Would anyone be able to share a closeup picture of an original leather carrying handle on a Berliner record box? Mine is missing and I am going to make a replacement out of leather strap and I would like to get it as close as possible to what the original looked like. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry

Here is a link to one that Shawn had for sale awhile back, that shows the handle.

Maybe you already know this, but that sort of handle is readily available from companies that supply the antique trunk restoration crowd. A google search should help you find it. But, if your plan was to have all the fun of making your own, go for it and ignore this.

Here is a short video and a few photos I had on my phone of mine. I can take better overhead photos and post if you need.

Thanks for the responses and thankyou Mike for the video that had the detail I was needing , the strap has more of a heart shaped end instead of a mushroom shape I had imagined. Larry

Larry,
Here's a bird's-eye view of the handle, as well as a closeup from the side. Hope this helps.

Re: Berliner Record Box
Here is a trunk supply company that makes the closest that I have found. It needs to be trimmed ever so slightly at the two "throats" where it passes through the keepers. and you will want to cut the round ends to appropriate right angles to the keeper side as shown in Georges picture. John

Thanks for all the suggestions and pictures , I ended up buying a trunk handle from the Brettuns Village link that John shared. I did a little trimming to look more like the photos of originals, . Thanks again for your help Larry
