A VV-X in bad condition probably would would not be worth the time and money to restore. However, all of the parts are there on this one, and the parts alone would be worth twice the asking price.

When I rehab and flip a machine, this type can be the most profitable. Many of the people that buy machines from me just want the machine with the nipper dog and are not too concerned about rarity of the model. If that was local to me it would be in my garage by now.

Unfortunate but true. I've spent too many hours restoring machines only to break even, or worse, loose money on them in the end. What would you pay for a VV-X in good original condition?brianu wrote:that's an unfortunate perspective.

with few machines on the market, so the model is not as critical here. If it was
a smaller city with too many machines, I would imagine that model would be less than
desirable.

I would drop $85 on something in this condition if it were Oak. Pretty easy to refinish and get a good result. But yes a X just isn't worth all that much even in perfect condition. Great project though for beginner collector.

If I had the time and space, I'd get it for re-sale. But in this bad economy, I'd be lucky to get $150.00 for it all cleaned up.

Actually, it's a relief to find a seller who doesn't have his head in the clouds regarding the value of a machine. There's an antique mall here in Huntington that has a VV XI with the finish removed, the decal missing, some of the doors missing, and it's priced at $600.00
