Guys, I know I'm posting in the wrong category, but I can't find another way to tell you this.
In more than half the times I'm logging into this forum the MAPS site comes up via the Phonograph Ring and I have to restart my browser to get rid of it. I am really getting fed up with that. Probably you can't do anything about it, but if you can, please look at the link information.
I tried to send a pm to the admins but couldn't work out how to do that.
No sweat if you swipe this message after reading.

It happened to me once, last week I thimk but I can't remember If I had to restart my browser.

Wow really. I log in several times a day & have done since the board started, and I've never been redirected to another site.
Just below the "Yankee Trader" section on the home page, there a "delete all board cookies" link highlighted in red. I wonder if doing this might help??
I'm completely ignorant when it comes to computers & how they work, but I guess it's worth a try?
I'm also using Windows Vista & internet explorer, but I dont know about you guys, or if a different browser could be encouraging the problem.
I think I've got Davids email, so I'll send him a heads up so he can look into it.

I don't have any problems. My browsers on my computers are:

Firefox 3.6.13
Safari 5.0.3
Internet Explorer 7.0.5730
Internet Explorer 8.0.6001

I would update browsers, clear cache, temp files, and cookies in your computer. There are a couple of places you have to go. One is in your browsers tools and preferences areas and the other is in Windows -- Start / Programs / Accessories/ System Tools / Disk Cleanup.

Mac has special applications for various cleaning utilities. Onyx and Cocktail

I use firefox and this has never happened to me. When I log in, I select "forever" or "Log me in each time I visit". Every couple of months I have to log in again.
Why do we need signatures when we are on a first avatar basis?

I use Firefox and this happens to me nearly once a day. On any screen - login, machines, music, individual thread, whatever. The WebRing page has no way to get out of it per se, but I usually can hit the "back" browser button and get out. Then on the next try to the desired page, the problem goes away for a while. Only to pop up again on some other page. Yes, it's annoying.

I personally have never encountered this problem. Have the admins been able to address this issue?

Not sure if it's been addressed, but David certainly knows about it. I suppose being realistic, work comes first & it is "that time of year", but it's friday (here) so perhaps over the weekend he might get some time to investigate the problem?

So, what can cause problems like this?
I dont imagine it's a virus because I only have VERY basic virus protection so I would think I'd be one of the first to be effected if that was the case.
Unlike the victor-victrola.com thing the other day, the web addresses are completely different so I dont really understand how entering one web address would take you somewhere competely different.
Could it be caused by a common server that's too busy and confused? :) Or would someone have to tamper with coding to make it happen?
The Antique Radio Forum was having lots of problems a couple weeks back that was caused by a new server they started to use, but this resulted in everyone getting constant error messages rather than redirection.
As I said though, I'm not at all computer savy so it's all over my head :lol:
However I do find it intersting & intreguing :?
