Uncommon governor drive gear
Hello all. I'm in search of an earlier style governor drive gear. It's the wide tooth version with 29 teeth. Came off of my Victor Junior. I have observed the same style gear on both my very early VV-VIII and 1912 version VV-VI as well as my Type Z Victor. Inside diameter is ⅜ of an inch. It is 1 ¼ inch across tooth to tooth. The teeth on it are very worn and the gear wobbles for whatever reason. One might think that the spindle being bent would cause the wobble, but I have checked the spindle out and it's perfect. When the gear is going around, it binds at a certain point, causing the motor to loose power progressively. This is the only thing stopping this machine from being completely restored. Thanks.

Yes, it looks very worn, with lots of burrs in the teeth, and these look as if it had been used on a wrong position, and some teeth have lost material. Sure that someone, or George Vollema at Great Lakes Antique Phonograph has a good replacement.

You may also want to place a "wanted" ad in our Yankee Trader.
Hope this helps.

I actually did attempt to obtain one from George. He told me that they are rare, thus expensive when found. He had none.Inigo wrote: Sat Sep 11, 2021 4:05 pm Yes, it looks very worn, with lots of burrs in the teeth, and these look as if it had been used on a wrong position, and some teeth have lost material.
