crapophone to shill or not to shill

seen this on ebay the other day. starting bid $129.06 (plus$198.00 for shipping) user a****c(323) places first bid and is then out bid by user u***a (16). lo and behold another crapophone goes up for auction and user a***c (323) is the first to bid again. i checked out the feedback of the seller only 94 unhappy buyers in one year. check out that angle of the platter or is it just my eye. i can't understand why someone would bid $132.00 on one of these when there are a bunch that are starting @ .99. they musta figured out the others were phonygraphs.

Dan as a seller on Ebay yourself you know that strange things can happen. I'm still surprised at the prices you got for the Pathé and Berliner records you just sold on there. Hey, if you can get it.... why not . Are you planning to list the Pathé machine you were going to see??.

yes i was quite surprised myself, kinda kickin myself now wish i would have kept a few that i did sell. oh well with christmas around the corner and a full winter of heating bills ahead didn't have much choice. normally the discs i sell come from a collection from the phono's that i have bought. i keep what i like and try to sell the rest to offset the cost of the phonograph. then i feel better about putting time and money into restoring the machine's. for my own enjoyment and not a short term investment. as for the Pathé machine the owner has yet to call it still appears to be for sale as it is still listed. i guess he didn't like it when i said $250.00 is a bit steep for it's condition. just so happens a VV-IX came up yesterday and i managed to snag that. nice condition couple of bad scratch's on the lid and the rubber mounting flange on the reproducer needs replacing. the main spring still appears strong, but does have sticky grease will have to clean and regrease. so i will have to pass on the Pathé and with any luck in a few days i will be finished my vv 4-3 and move it from the garage to the house.

Check out the angle of the crank. The motor is probably mounted at an angle too. At least the decal on the front seems to be more or less centered, wait a minute, not it's not.
