Victor Talking Machine VV IX and info on the restoration

Well while having a little motor issues I spent a day polishing the crank. I would like to remove the screw to the handle but it is a brass screw and trying to loosen it from a steel shaft I need to be careful, did not want to come loose. I backed away slowly did not want to break the screw off. The crank was pitted bad, I rough sanded it with 100 grit, then 220 and then 400. I finished it up with diamond grit polishing tool. I got back some shine and am looking to coat it in something to keep it shiny for a while. Maybe clear lacquer.

I am very happy with the lid crack repair. Cannot see it if you did not know it was there.

Backing way a little bit it is fitting in with what I want.

It's not a screw. It's a nut. If memory serves, it might be left hand thread.

A very special thanks to Jerry Van. I have the gears to replace the worn motor drive.

Also thanks for sending the spindle with the gears, as you can see there was quite a bit of wear to my spindle also. The worm had very sharp edges as compared with my spindle that went with the gear set.

I set the spindle and the governor and greased and oil it up.

Installed the spring drive gear and greased it up.

It is amazing what new gearset can do for a now quiet motor.
I adjusted the speed and let her turn. So much better now and it sounds better then my Columbia Favorite.
