TOO SMALL??

Post by tictalk »

I bought this loose reproduction horn at the Hazelcorn auction last weekend for a Vic 6 , but my wife suggested to test drive it on the Auxetophone, I think it looks kind of small for that big of a machine, anyone care to give an opinion? It is the first reproduction horn I have owned, kind of like the inlay.

I would have to agree, too small. Put a 24B horn on it.
Love the Auxetophone!!!!!!!!

Curiosity... Which model is that ornate massive Victrola standing at the right side of the Auxeto? It's magnificent!

Personally a 24B would be my first choice also. But since that's not a option right now I would stay with the spruce repro horn. Although it is a lot smaller than the big BB horn on the floor, I don't think it is to small.
It allows you to see the machine and the color contrast of the spruce horn and mahogany machine is striking.

I love the fancier cabinet on your Auxetophone. Mine started out with the black/brass and I too wanted a 24B but 15 years later and I still don't have one. So I decided to try a Columbia nickel horn which was a good alternative (and completely incorrect). And then last month I found the perfectly matched mahogany horn. It's fun to accessorize!

Back to your question.....I think it's too small and I don't think that horn is the best match for the machine. The 24B would be an amazing improvement.
