Miami, First Diamond Disc I Heard and Now on Podcast

Post by Marc Hildebrant »

Group,

I added a bunch more songs to my Podcast (https://www.buzzsprout.com/1449838) and one of which, number 116, was the record that started me into Music Restoration.

One day during which I was talking with a Wisconsin collector (Ken B.), he had me listen on the phone to a record that he liked called "Miami" by The Florida Four. He held the telephone near the Diamond Disc player as he shared the music. While I had heard many Cylinder records, I had never heard an Edison Diamond Disc record.

One thing led to another, and I started playing some of his records on my modern turntable to simply transfer the recording to a digital format that I could put on a CD so that Ken and myself could play the song in a car or at home. The initial transfer contained noise and distortion, so I started down a path to restore the music to what you might have heard in the recording studio as the song was first heard.

While that is still my goal in my music restoration, I feel now that the quality of my restorations is pretty good and that I could share the music around the world... so that started the Podcasts.
So, check out 116 and for that manner all of them if you have a chance.

Your restorations indeed are very good, faithful to the originals and very nice to play. Thanks for sharing all that.
