Yes but £425 is a good price , and the wood looks easily dealt with . the last one I had sold on Ebay for £800 and this one on now is £749

Yes! Some years ago I found one for sale locally. It had been bought from a gramophone dealer, long since retired. I thought it didn't sound right, so I left and visited again with a screwdriver. Sure enough, just a horrible makeshift horn dangling in the cabinet.

You were extremely lucky, that's all I can say. The one for sale at £750 has been for sale for ages. Not many collectors will pay much more than £450 for a really nice example. I've seen 193s sell for little more than £1000. It's nonsensical.

Personally speaking I wouldn't buy a 163 unless it was pristine. Unlike the bigger models it's not uncommon and refinished cabinets never look ideal.

 Do tell. Fortunately not many collectors are aware of how good those things sound... When I find a nice 202/203 I'll be done with collecting.

Steve may have been referring to this 193 which was sold in October 2020 for a hammer price of £950.
I knew the machine and it's late owner well. There was nothing fundamentally wrong with it.
