Jim and Walt Bullock are brothers, and radio entertainers from 1929 through 1934. They both sang and Jim played piano. In 1930, they released a record on the Champion label (16004), performing a rendition of “I’m Satisfied With My Girl”, and “He-Men Chew Tobacco”. The disc does not provide song credits, but the first song is a cover. The second song, “He-Men”, may be theirs. Both songs are full of vaudeville humor. I’ve transcribed He-Men with a few missing bits.
If anyone knows the missing bits, add them to the post.
Enjoy the read,
James.

He-Men Chew Tobacco
In this land of peace and freedom, we have he-men and we need-em.
He-men, she-men, in between, they all like their nicotine.
Though we try our very best to think-up something new,
If you’ve hair upon your chest, there’s just one thing to do.
Jellybeans smoke cigarettes.
Let them smoke there cigarettes.
Let he-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
Gentlemen prefer cigars.
Let gentlemen prefer cigars.
But he-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
It may be cut, plug or spat, we don’t give a rat.
Now chew’n men ain’t so refined, but who prefers the other kind.
College boys smoke college pipes.
Let’m smoke their college pipes.
But he-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
Cannibals chew each other up.
Let them chew each other up.
Let he-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
China men smoke opium.
Hop, hop, hop, is there any opium? (that’s my best guess)
He-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
It may be cut, plug or spat, we don’y give a rat.
But please don’t spit upon the floor, if you can find a cuspidor.
Robinson Crusoe smoked cigars.
Yeah, he smoked castaway cigars.
Let he-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
In this land of milk and honey, women’s rights are not so funny,
Women smoke and women drink, everything that you can think.
But there’s two things that remain for women yet to do,
They won’t grow mustaches, and they will not learn to chew.
But, mother-in-laws all chew the rag.
Let the old gals chew the rag.
Let he-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
Pocahontas smoked a pipe.
Let her smoke her old peace-pipe.
He-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
It may be cut, plug or spat, we don’t give a rat.
Now he-men go out on a date, expecting to expectorate.
Jolson chews his mammy’s songs.
Let him chew his mammy’s songs.
But I still have you sonny boy.
You know that French men chew frogs legs and snails.
Let them chew frogs legs and snails.
Let he-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
English men prefer pink tea.
_ _ _ _ _ _ black tea.
He-men chew tobacco, all the live-long day.
It may be cut, plug or spat, we don’t give a rat.
But he-men know that chew’ns best, they proved it by the blindfold test.
Dutch men like their mother’s beer.
Don’t _ _ _ the Dutch men here.
Let he-men chew tobacco, all we got to say.

Very interesting lyrics. Thanks for sharing. I looked briefly on youtube for the He-Man song and found nothing. If anyone has an audio recording I would love to hear it.
