Yes, this is an Expert Senior with rather fine case and stand but with a slightly impaired horn which should make little difference to the excellence of the sound. The correct four-spring soundbox is sadly absent.

The front panel of the cabinet appears to hinge down. Is that for record storage? Would this be an electric motor version?

I'm not sure what you're seeing but no, there is no hinged flap or record storage on these machines. Record storage compromises sound quality!

No hinges, there is a marqueterie decoration but otherwise the thing is solid. As to motors, this one has a crank on the side, so it is a spring motor. I have one that is powered electrically, both versions were sold.

The spring motor is described as being by Collaro. There is no name plate, suggesting that this might be a fairly early example in the production run.

Yes, very cheap, although the correct four-spring soundbox would add another £1,000 plus. Did I detect woodworm in the case ?
