Fuehr Stemmer
My inlaws want me to sell there Fuehr Stemmer. I can't find info online to date the machine etc. Can anyone help? It is very nice, has records, needles and even a record cleaner.Thanks

Going by the picture here: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/f ... phonograph it is a typical machine made around 1920. Fuehr & Stemmer was a piano company in Chicago, like many piano builders they tried building phonographs when the market for pianos went down.
I can't give you a firm figure without at least seeing your machine, but if it is very clean and works properly it might be worth as much as $200, but possibly less - phonographs made by minor builders are most often not of great value.

As estott says, there's not much demand for 1920s uprights by minor companies. They were made in mind-boggling numbers. The big problem is that the cost of shipping is typically as much or more than the value of the machine, which leaves you with just a small local market among people close enough to pick it up in person. They can be very tough to market.
