Looks like a genuine barn find. How such a beauty could be found unwashed and unloved is crazy. Congratulations to the new owner.

Well, it's not just a beauty, it's also a beast ;) I'm sure people just didn't have the room or muscle to put it in the house, but didn't want to let it go either. Great find!

I'd be curious to know where it was posted (and when) and what the original asking price was...

It was between Kansas City and St. Louis and they were asking $600 for it.

He was willing to take $300. Hope it went to a collector that can properly fix this instead of being made into a liquor cabinet.

I was the purchaser of the William and Mary. It was about a 14 hour roundtrip with good weather the whole way. I didn't realize from the pictures that the legs were missing below the stretchers so had to find something suitable to serve as substitutes. I'm happy with how it all turned out and will move it into the house tomorrow.

Here's a before/after of the doors when the work began.

And a number showing the finished cabinet.

I'm so happy that it went to a forum member who knew what to do with it. It's amazing how many fine old antiques are left forsaken and recovered. Congratulations.
