Unitone Upright - CL - Abbotsford, BC

Post by Lah Ca »

No association with the seller.

To my inexperienced mind, this is a lovely looking machine with a simple but somewhat elegant cabinet and a cool-looking turntable with its own plinth. No idea if it is a decent gramophone or not.

It appears to be a shop of some sort, which might explain the price. It is nice for me to look at, but out range of any price I would be interested in.

It is in Abbotsford, British Columbia, which is some distance out the Fraser Valley along Highway 1 from Vancouver.

In case anyone is interested, here's a direct link -- https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van/at ... 73088.html

I agree, the price is a bit steep for an off brand. Judging by the components--tapered tonearm, sound box, curved metal horn--it dates from the latter 1920s.

If I were up there, I'd opt for this Alvara model Canadian Orthophonic Victrola -- https://victoria.craigslist.org/atq/d/h ... 59072.html -- (SEE: https://www.capsnews.org/apn2001-4.htm )

@OrthoFan

Thanks for sticking in the link. I was a bit distracted this morning.

Copied the link, yes, but pasted, no.

:oops:

Thanks also for the interesting comments.
