Wood horn wood screws

Post by ColoradoPhonograf »

Hi all,

Kinda strange question here. I have a couple of Edison Cygnet wood horns where the collars or hangers have a screw missing. Does anyone know a supplier who sells those tiny screws?. They have to be 3/16" or less in length with standard heads (NOT Phillips). I tried Don Gfeff, but he keeps his stash close to home. I would be willing to buy in bulk and letting fhem out to to other collectors at cost. I just don't know where to look.

Thank you,

Try Blacksmith Bolt and Rivet Supply. Large selection.

Look at McMaster-Carr, I did a quick search for #3 and #4 wood screws, slot round head in brass or steel for about $6/100

They have them from #2 to #12

Thank you everyone for your inputs and suggestions on resources. From what I see available this should work nicely. They would measure .156" in length ( under 3/16"). I appreciate your time. I'm going to be ordering some.

You might find that a "00" size screw is a bit small in diameter. Maybe get some #1's also?

What I found with blacksmithbolt.com is that their shipping and handling costs only make sense for larger orders, so I ordered a whole list of nickel plated slotted wood screws in different sizes, round, flat and oval head, pretty much everything I could think about needing for phono repairs. Now I have a bice selection that will probably last me a lifetime 8-)

No luck on finding any screws. I purchased several, including the 00 that are mentioned. They have too small of a head size AND are slightly too long. (Just long enough to punch a hole in the inside of the horn. Don't ask how I know :D ) It seems to me that any screw with unthreaded area beneath the head will NOT work. If anyone finds a solution, please post. At this point, I can find none other than Eduardo's. Needing quite a few, that is not my preference (in addition to the postage cost and time for delivery).
